<p>Choosing a birthing method is a choice only a mother can make and it can often be almost as difficult as choosing a baby name. Some mothers have already decided on their options long before the delivery process, while others wait until the last minute. Lamaze, water delivery, epidurals, cesarean section and completely natural births are just some of the common choices for deliveries. All of these are, in one way or another, &#8220;natural&#8221; except cesareans and epidurals. </p>
<p>Epidurals, like all other anesthesia or medications, have side effects for both mother and baby. For mom, there is a long list of side effects ranging from prolonged labor to having seizures. Spinal blockage can occur, requiring immediate assistance and days of bed rest. Sometimes the mother is unable to feel contractions which cause her to not push which can result in needing assistance with forceps. The mother might also experience headaches, numbness and bruising at the catheter administration site. After all of this, some women, 10% according to Childbirthsolutions.com, report inadequate pain relief with epidurals. </p>
<p>Not only is mom exposed to side effects, so is the unborn fetus. In many cases the mother&#8217;s blood pressure will drop, as is normal for any anesthesia or medication. However this causes the fetus to react by dropping its heart rate to compensate for the lack of blood pressure. Most physicians will insist on an immediate cesarean when the fetal heart rate drops. When performing a cesarean however, more medication and anesthesia is used, this can only complicate the situation. Any amount of stress that is put upon the mother and fetus can result in problems when the fetus is born.  </p>
<p>Once the fetus has left its protective shell in the womb, they are now exposed to all kinds of things. Babies who are born to mothers who use epidurals commonly have what is referred to as &#8220;epidural fever&#8221;. The symptoms are similar to an infection and doctors take no chances and send the baby to isolation and immediately administer IV antibiotics until the fever resides.  Some nurses and mothers have noticed that newborns are more irritable under the effects of epidurals. While these effects are typically short term, there is always the potential to have the effects linger. </p>
<p>Epidurals are not all bad, there are positives to medication use during labor. An epidural will generally relieve any anxiety and stress a mother might be feeling. Anxiety and stress can cause equal amounts of damage to a fetus. By keeping the mothers mental state intact, the doctors can do their jobs and monitor the baby&#8217;s progress. An epidural will also not all muscles which can allow the mother to walk around and be comfortable during the long hours of labor which is also important. Let&#8217;s not forget the biggest reason women choose an epidural, minimal pain. </p>
<p>Talking to doctors, other mothers and doing research is the best thing for new moms to do before making a final decision on child birth. Often the thought of risking health problems for the baby is a price too high for some mothers, others are willing to take the chance and go for the epidural. There is no right or wrong option however new mothers should be conscious of the effects of medications on newborns. Making an education decision is crucial for both child and mother, the birthing choice is the first big one to make as a mom.</p>

<p>Self hypnosis is a practice that essentially concentrates the mind on certain topics of your choice. If you are scheduled for breast surgery (biopsy, lumpectomy or mastectomy) or you are undergoing post-surgical breast cancer treatment, hypnosis is an excellent complementary therapy that can enhance the positive effects of various therapies.</p>
<p>With hypnosis, the subject is totally unconscious and the person under hypnosis, is called the subject.  Neither sleep nor unconsciousness, hypnosis is a state in which a person has shut out distractions and is free to focus intently on a particular subject, emotion, or memory.</p>
<p>With a self hypnosis cd, the difference might just be a few words that are uttered by the hypnotherapist. I remembered reading a magazine article that mentioned hypnosis and the fact that CDs and audio tapes were available over the counter, which is true because more and more people are becoming hypnotist.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve helped a lot of people quit smoking.  While doing this, I&#8217;ve been told a lot of reasons why it is good to smoke.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been told smoking sharpens your mind, relaxes you, calms you, keeps you from yelling at the kids (or spouse),  tastes good with coffee, tastes better after a meal.  In short, makes you feel &#8220;better&#8221;.  (I always ask &#8220;better than what&#8221;?)</p>
<p>I know you don&#8217;t completely believe these reasons, or why know you should quit smoking.  I also know a part of you DOES believe these things, and more.</p>
<p>A part of you MUST believe your reasons or you would have quit smoking by now.  Now may be a good time to know there are no laws that say your reason to keep smoking has to make sense.  They rarely do.</p>
<p>In fact, 99% of the reasons you continue can easily be proven incorrect.  Maybe smoking keeps you from blowing up and yelling at your spouse because you&#8217;re mouth is full of smoke, or even better, you have to go outside to smoke.</p>
<p>And most of the time you&#8217;re AWARE it doesn&#8217;t make sense.  That doesn&#8217;t change anything though, does it?  Just one more log to toss on the fire of your motivation to quit.  A fire that doesn&#8217;t have much chance against the ocean of your craving to smoke.</p>
<p>It all comes down to two things.  The belief that smoking will make you feel better and what you&#8217;re trying to feel better than.  That&#8217;s it.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re hungry you feel like eating.  If you&#8217;re tired, you feel like sleeping.  If you feel bad (stressed, over-burdened, upset, alone, whatever&#8230;) you want to feel good.  And, whatever your mind has learned feels good, you feel like doing.</p>
<p>This is simple explanation of a craving.  Some smokers have more than one type of craving, the &#8216;first thing in the morning&#8217; craving might feel different than the &#8216;on the phone&#8217; craving.</p>
<p>So how to help this situation?  I can spend a few articles explaining it (and I have, look for them) But, it comes down to changing the feelings, motivations and beliefs involved.</p>
<p>First, feeling bad needs to be looked at and helped.  If it&#8217;s stress, get it managed, if it&#8217;s a bad situation, do what you can to fix it or get help.</p>
<p>Second, you belief that smoking helps you feel good (it&#8217;s probably the innocent mistake that smoking equals being an adult, in control, strong, capable, etc&#8230;)  In truth, a cigarette is a plant leaf and chemicals wrapped in paper.  The good feeling you&#8217;re anticipating from smoking is created by your mind.  YOU make yourself feel better when you smoke.  So it only makes sense that you can make yourself feel good by doing something that is healthy.  If, your mind believes it makes you feel good.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s the trick.  Quit smoking is mainly about modifying behavior.  That&#8217;s why the success rate of medication and nicotine replacement alone is so poor.  The only current exception is Chantix and even Pfizer, the makers of Chantix, recommend behavior modification along with the medication.</p>

<p>Every athlete, in every sport gets nervous before a game or has a game day superstition. Some of the questions running through their minds are, what if we lose, what if I mess up, or worse injury! These thoughts become so powerful and can take over a players mind. No one wants to say they had a bad game. Everyone wants to be at their physical and mental best while performing, however sometimes this is difficult to achieve without help.</p>
<p>Often we set ourselves up for failure in sports when we begin to think of our flaws. For instance, a basketball player might feel too short or not fast enough. Being short may be true, but this should not effect how you play the game. Not every basketball player is tall, but if you know how to play the game, this will help you. If you are not fast enough, this is something that can be fixed, through both physical workouts and mental workouts. By identifying what limits you mentally to be slow, you can then become physically fast. It could possibly be a memory you had that is holding you back, or maybe a learned behavior. If someone continues to tell you that you are too slow, you begin to believe you are. Over coming this belief alone can be difficult.</p>
<p>Focus, an athlete needs to be in the zone. A baseball player doesn&#8217;t hit 5 homeruns in a row because he was lucky, he is focused. If you are not in that zone, it is hard to perform at your best. Maybe there is pressure from coaches, fans or parents, a loud negative person in the stands, or maybe you simply psyched yourself out before the game even started by worrying you would have a bad game. As you can see, many things can cause you to lose the zone. Identifying what makes you lose focus, and learning new tricks to keep you in the zone. You can become unstoppable, not lucky, but focused.</p>
<p>Bump, set, spike, side out. Volleyball is a game of skill and to some extent luck, but with improved skill you can create your own luck. By learning visual and mental cues, you can teach your body how to be on point and improve your skill level. When your mind has powerful successes they become easier to recreate on the court during the game.</p>
<p>The ultimate athlete loves himself, his team and the game. This love builds a better, stronger, more valuable athlete. If you are constantly worrying about how you did in the game or how bad your team mate is then you are doing yourself, your team and the sport a disservice. If you were always told how bad you are at something or how if you teammate would have just passed you the ball you could have won, you are allowing these experiences to take over the game. You are no longer the best you can be. Once you learn how to deal with these feelings and memories, you will become an amazing athlete.</p>
<p>Hypnosis is one way of achieving all of these things. Sure if you want to improve your skill level you can work out at the gym hours on end and sure you can try to focus on something else, but hear me out first. Hypnosis helps you to identify what your skills are and how to use them, instead of getting nervous you will be confident in your abilities. You will learn to focus on the game and not all the other distractions that can hinder your focus. While under hypnosis your mind is more relaxed and open to suggestions, you will not longer have the feeling you are sabotaging yourself.</p>
<p>Sports, simply always be a fun, happy experience.You should not have to experience a worthless, anxious, or distracted feeling before you begin a game. Sure you can try other things but there is no reason to try those things when there is one good treatment for it. You know what works for you and your lifestyle, make your choice, just do it.</p>

<p>Obesity has taken center stage during many different discussions both nationwide and at the local level. From education to healthcare costs, people want to talk about it and find a solution. According to Obesityaction.org, in 2004 more than 21% of Oregon&#8217;s population was considered obese, that number rose to more than 23% in 2006. The causes for this upward trend are unlimited.</p>
<p>The idea of an American family and dinner time has changed. Americans lead busy lives, in a typical family home, both parents work a forty hour week, most arriving home late. Most of those families would rather relax than think about making a well balanced meal for everyone. Usually they will grab what it closest or easiest such as a microwave dinner, take out or order a pizza. We all want to spend time with our families and watch our favorite TV program. The last thing anyone wants to think about is cooking after a long day at the office.</p>
<p>Eating out was once thought to be expensive, now because of places like Jack in the Box and McDonalds, you can get a meal that is affordable and fast. You can go to McDonalds and feed a family of four for less than twenty dollars. It is fast, easy, and most of all cheap. To feed a family of four a balanced meal, for example chicken with rice and a vegetable, costs more in both time and money something we are all short on. Fred Meyer, a local grocery store chain in Oregon, which usually has pretty good deals, but look at what it costs to feed a family of four. I went to Fred Meyer hoping to spend less than $20.00 on a well balanced meal. Foster Farms offers three chicken breasts in a package for around $9.00, but you would have to buy two in order to feed a family of four. One package of Uncle Ben&#8217;s instant wild rice only has two to three servings per container for $2.50 which means again you would have to buy two packages. As for a vegetable, a bag of organic baby carrots cost about $2.00. When it was all said and done, a healthy home cooked dinner for a family of four costs about $25.00. This is not including the time spent making the dinner and doing dishes afterwards.</p>
<p>Lack of health choice at restaurants makes eating right difficult. According to Foodfacts.info, in 2005 fast food chain, Wendy&#8217;s, pulled their fruit salad option after only ten months on the menu, sighting low sales. Many fast food chains have started to offer healthier choices such as Subway which offers raisins and yogurt, and Wendy&#8217;s offers mandarin orange fruit cups in place of fries. Some sit down restaurants have followed suit such as Red Robin which will allow you to order either a petite hamburger patty or a Boca Burger substitute for any of their burgers. Unfortunately other places do not offer alternatives or the alternatives are not well advertised by the prospective restaurant. Red Robin might offer a Boca patty substitution but it is in fine print which is barley visible at the very bottom of their menu.</p>
<p>Eating out has taken the control over serving sizes away. A burger at Red Robin is normally a one pound patty with unlimited. At McDonalds, a medium fry package now has nutritional facts listed on the side. It shows how many calories are in that amount of fries along with the sodium content. What they are not taking into account is the amount of salt added to the fries after cooking, and the person filling the container usually over fills. Therefore the nutritional facts and serving size information provided is inaccurate.</p>
<p>Gastric bypass surgery is the second only to breast augmentation, as the most common surgery among young adults. The time is now for us to start setting a good example for all people and start making smarter choices of food, make the effort to cook healthy meals, and rethink what a serving size is.  Sure it might require more effort and more time and sacrifice but when you look at the health risks and concerns associated with obesity, it just makes sense to spend a few extra dollars, a little more time and make a few better choices in order to make a better future for you and your family.</p>

<p>Does Not Work On Your Conscious Mind</p>
<p>Weight control hypnosis may not be such a well known solution, even though hypnosis has been used from long ago. Weight control hypnosis does not directly address the conscious state of mind, rather it deals with the subconscious which is the advantage over other weight loss solutions. Hypnosis has also been used in helping athletes to improve their performance and it is also recommended for treating persons who have been abused or who suffer from diseases such as nausea, ulcers and migraines.</p>
<p>Being overweight is unhealthy and the sooner that you are able to control your weight the better it is going to be for your health. Weight control hypnosis is still worth checking out and chances are that you will get better results from it as compared to trying pills and dieting, even though it is not as widely accepted as many of the other weight loss solutions.</p>
<p>No doubt, many of the overweight and obese people in the world would like to find a solution that guarantees that they lose weight in double quick time. However, the advantage to using weight control hypnosis lies in the fact that once results begin to show they will last for a lifetime. Contrast this with the usual weight loss, weight gain cycle that you and I will be subjected to when using pills or taking to dieting. No sooner than you stop taking pills or quit dieting that you will once again put on weight.</p>
<p>Smoking is another major health concern, as if it is not bad enough being obese or overweight that is ruining many lives and it is therefore necessary to also look for effective quit smoking hypnosis solutions.</p>
<p>People that have tried weight control hypnosis have found nothing to complain about and in fact have many success stories to relate about how they succeed in controlling their weight, thanks to hypnosis, even though experts are not able to agree about the effectiveness of it.</p>

<p>According to www.wikipedia.org over 50% of states are covered by a smoking ban of some form. In some states smoking is ban in restaurants and bars, in others this ban also includes hotel rooms and even patios. America is trying to tell smokers in one voice, smoking is bad, be healthy. The smoking bans are not going anywhere anytime soon more and more states are jumping on the wagon.</p>
<p>In 2005 Washington state imposed $100.00 fines for lighting up within 25 feet of restaurants, bars, movie complexes and other public places according to an article in USAToday. California also became the first state to out law smoking on all of its beaches, Indiana will not allow smoking at bus stops or ATMs, and in many states healthcare workers are forbidden to smoke during the work day and must sign a contract agreeing to this rule. Other states have taken their smoking bans to another level, in Iowa even smoking in your car anywhere on the grounds with get you a fine USAToday also reports. These trends have no where to go but up mainly due to people raising awareness among the public.</p>
<p>More and more research has come out about second hand smoke. Often those who are exposed to second hand smoke suffer the same health problems as smokers. Cancer, asthma, and emphysema are some of the more common problems associated with second hand smoke. The public feels an obligation to keep non-smokers healthy. The cost of health care are on the rise because of both obesity related health problems and smoking related health complications. The public has had enough.</p>
<p>Since California has been one of the major players in the smoking ban, they decided to take it one step further. Just when the public thought the ban couldn&#8217;t get any tougher, California added the old one two and included a ban on driving while smoking with children in the car. This law passed in 2007 making it one of the most drastic in the nation according to cigarettehouse.net. It outraged smokers who feel smoking in their own car is their business, however California&#8217;s govern and its lawmakers felt differently. Children should not be made to be exposed to second hand smoke.</p>
<p>Some feel by imposing smoking bans on the public, law makers are taking away a smokers right to choose what they do to their own body. While this maybe true, children and non-smokers are not given a choice at all when they are being exposed to second hand smoke. Smokers are still able to smoke in their homes and private property. They are only asked to respect the public who does not want to be around smoke.</p>
<p>Fifty years ago smoking in public places and job sites was widely accepted. It was considered a social thing and not thought of as a dirty habit. However after seeing the effects of smoking many have chose to quit. Banning smoking is replacing the smoking socialization factor of fifty years ago, the new trend is healthy and no one should expect this new trend to go anywhere any time soon.</p>
